Theatre Performance Professional Development Program

The New York Conservatory Professional Development Program in Theatre Performance is an opportunity to spend two weeks in NYC working on your craft, meeting fellow actors, making important connections, and adding an off-Broadway credit to your resume!

Two-Week Professional Development Program in Theatre Performance

In our Theatre Performance Professional Development Program, you’ll focus on:

→ Honing your audition skills with a New York City professional actor and have the opportunity to audition for a NYC casting director.
→ Rehearsing a Theatrical Performance

And, you’ll leave with:

→ Valuable audition feedback from a NYC Casting Director
→ A NYC credit for your resume at an off-Broadway theatre

Note: For the Professional Development Programs, International participants may enter the U.S. on either the B1/B2 visa or ESTA as this would be considered recreational study not for credit or certification by USCIS.

Professional Development Programs are open to those 18 and older with performance experience

Dates:

  • Monday, January 6, 2025 – Thursday, January 16, 2025, including classes on Saturday, January 11, 2025

Cost: $3,000 per participant

  • Housing Available: Up to 4-bed, suite-style rooms with private bath and kitchenette. Location within NYC Burroughs. Arrangements can be made with The New York Conservatory to book space in our Residence Hall for an additional $800 (plus a refundable $200. damage deposit).

Program Highlights:

  • Add a NYC Theatre Credit to your resume
  • Perform in an off-Broadway Theatre to invited guests
  • Rehearse an exisisting or original theatrical work
  • Workshop monologues and sides 
  • Audition for a NYC casting director
  • Experience NYC for a reasonable rate, including optional housing

Registration Requirements:

  • Simple registration form
  • Uploaded video of musical theatre or contemporary/pop song (16-bar cut)
  • Headshot and resume (if applicable)

Curriculum:

  • Hagen and Stanislavski Focus on acting exercises with New York Conservatory faculty that explores Uta Hagen’s and Anton Stanislavski’s exercises and approaches, to deepen your connection to character through self. Includes two sessions with a NYC Casting Director.
  • Audition Seminar with New York Conservatory Faculty. Focus on in-person monologue and sides audition and present to a NYC Casting Director for feedback.
  • Theatrical Production of existing or original material. Performance at an NYC theatre to invited guests.
